About

The Chatham-Kent Wind Action Group (CKWAG) is a coalition of concerned residents from across the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, Ontario, who believe the recent proliferation of industrial wind projects will have a negative impact on the community. The massive size of industrial wind turbines conflicts with the scale and character of the Chatham-Kent landscape. CKWAG is dedicated to preserving the beautiful rural character of Chatham-Kent and the quality of life of its inhabitants by insisting on proper wind turbine setback distances.

CKWAG believes that improper siting of industrial wind turbines will result in the loss of our beautiful rural landscape, wildlife habitats and migration routes, peace, quiet, and health of our citizens, and future economic development opportunities.

Through conservation of electricity, preservation of our natural areas, and re-vegetation efforts, Chatham-Kent can make a larger contribution to protecting the environment than the industrialization of our countryside ever could. CKWAG would like the Municipality of Chatham-Kent to establish proper industrial wind turbine setbacks to protect our population and unique locale.
